Day 6 : On the road

We were so lucky today because we managed to escape from the rain and enjoyed our fantastic experience in Maarja village and the town of Tartu. We started our trip early in the morning, then spent a few hours in Maarja village, which is a small community, situated far from the city life, in the forest, where 38 people with different physical and mental disabilities live together, learning and obtaining new skills and using them in order to make their own lifes easier, more pleasant and to feel valuable for the society. We were impressed by the beautiful things they make in the workshops, which can be found in some local shops nearby. The people we met there were friendly, sociable and we enjoyed listening to the stories about their life, which the manager of the place was telling us over a cup of coffee.

After the pleasant hours in the village we headed for the town of Tartu. We had lunch and after that met some local young people at the Organisation Fair event, that we had prepared, to give them information about our NGO-s and different EVS and Erasmus+ opportunities in our countries. They were active and interested in this issue. After the fair we went sightseeing in Tartu. We enjoyed walking, taking photos, shopping and our day finished with a pizza night in a cosy restaurant in the centre of Tartu.

Now, while we are writing all this, we are travelling back home, a little tired, but also very happy...;)
